Bard and ChatGPT are two of the most popular large language models (LLMs) available today. Both models are capable of generating text, translating languages, writing different kinds of creative content, and answering your questions in an informative way. However, there are some key differences between the two models to their approach in handling what they do.
Data sources
Bard is trained on a dataset of text and code that is specifically designed to enhance its dialogue and coding capabilities. This includes scientific papers, math expressions, and source code. ChatGPT is trained on a more general dataset of text, including books, articles, and code.
Real-time access to the internet
Bard has real-time access to the internet, which means that it can access and process the latest information. ChatGPT does not have real-time access to the internet, so its knowledge is limited to the information that was included in its training dataset.
User interface
Bard has a more modern and sleek interface than ChatGPT. Bard allows you to view multiple responses to your prompt called drafts while ChatGPT only allows you to view a single response per query but you can use regenerate for a different answer.
Strengths and weaknesses
Bard is generally better at answering questions in a comprehensive and informative way, even if they are open ended, challenging, or strange. ChatGPT is better at producing paragraphs and summaries and other text-based processing tasks.
Which one is better?
I’m not going to choose one over the other since I use both. They both have their own strengths and weaknesses. Bard is better suited for research and tasks that require access to the latest information, while ChatGPT is better suited for writing tasks and tasks that require the generation of creative text formats.
Feature | Bard | ChatGPT |
---|---|---|
Data sources | Text and code, specifically designed for dialogue and coding | General text, including books, articles, and code |
Real-time access to the internet | Yes | No |
User interface | More modern | Classic |
Strengths | Answering questions, research | Writing tasks, generating creative text formats |
Weaknesses | Coding capabilities, access to the latest information | Access to the latest information |
Overall, Bard and ChatGPT are both powerful LLMs with a wide range of capabilities. The best model for you will depend on your specific needs and requirements. You can try both Bard and ChatGPT for free and see which one you prefer. Both models are still under development so they are constantly improving
As for LLMs I strongly believe they are here to stay.
